    is rope repairable?

I mean cable isn't but if it get crappy at the end you can cut off a foot or whatever and put the hook back on.

yes even if you cut it in half it is really easy to fix . you just need a little bit of electrical tape to tape the 2 ends to a nice tapered point ( a sharp knife to remove some of the strands so it can taper ) push one section towards each other so as to bowe the line and open up the strands and just put the taped ( point ) end in and feed it up the centre. ( this is commonly referred to as a chinese Finger knot ) run it up about 18"- 24" and do the same on the other piece . Same principle applys for putting a loop in the end ( although with a loop i would want to take a needle and waxed sail cloth thread or something similar and stitch and wrap ( 20-30 wraps )the point where the loop meets
    Cheers.
