I heard the squeak from here when the rusty vice grips were released that was clamping your wallet shut.

Wasn't easy but i wasn't impressed with the cut up B&M missing all the stop tabs as well as a gear. After i accidentally hit reverse cruising down the access road and ditched it i figured i best do something about it. lol

And I tend to get side tracked, and this looks like fun. Grahams old chasis mixed with that Mexican mudder. Anybody, cough cough Cheyne, know anything about these coilovers? Look like maybe old school kings?

So the engine is in. Now time to button everything back up.

And, back to beating a dead horse. If MTO gets me with my trailer/rape shack/jeep on it my combined weight is in the yellow sticker zone. Correct? An RV would be the sneaky way to avoid that. Correct? To be classed as an RV it needs 4 of either:

    - cooking facilities
    - a refrigerator or an ice box
    - a self-contained toilet
    - a heating or air conditioning system
    - an independent electrical power supply or an independent gas supply
    - potable water supply system with faucet and sink

I already planned on a couple deepcycles and my 3000w inverter, a couple propane tanks and a small ac unit. So add a stove/bbq/hotplate/microwave/etc, pale with a crapper lid or maybe a small fridge and it's an RV. No?

Then if good i carry on to service ontario and get sorted for a home made trailer under 900kg still as discussed before? Any mention of RV for different sticker or registration? Or is it all up to the discretion of the MTO once i get hauled over whether it's RV enough or not?

    Cheers

i think it's easier to strip a travel trailer down to a rape shack/jeep hauler because it's already registered as an rv

One thing I have learned regardless of what is legal or not or if you did everything properly or not, EVERYTHING is to the discretion of the MTO enforcement officer.

If you were to follow the letter of the law, your tow rig would have to be registered for the total combined weight. If the trailer is able to be registered as an RV, it is exempt from the annual safety inspection requirement but your tow rig is not (unless it too is registered as an RV).

More digging led me to Bills post from a bunch of years ago. http://www.jeepkings.ca/forums/showt...-trailer-to-RV

Looks like it's a no go. So either cross my fingers that i miss the MTO or find a shortbed camper to slide in the truck bed.

Edit: Just saw your post Cheyne. In that case i think i'll register homemade, build the shack and roll the dice. lol

Yes, registering something like that as an RV could be problematic as it will not meet the 50% rule. You need to find yourself a greasy old 5ver and cut the back off and turn it into a flat deck for the heep and keep living quarters on the front.

Unfortunately it's the camper frame that is getting built buddy. And with a lock on the door you're screwed this time when you hear something in the bush at night. lmao

Not gonna lie, was eyeballing those things too earlier. Drive past auctionmaxx everyday who have kijiji post bombed them for $140.

Jeep is first on the priority list, then trailer, then rape shack. lol. tick tock
