Ghetto patched some cancer. If plans go according these spots won't be here next winter but between the beer and the time it seemed like the thing to do.

Thought i'd test the free hand plasma. I bet a couple more beers it'd be smoother. LOL

This was the idea but i dont like it, gonna have to go somewhere else. I'm thinkin cage.

And my professional color matching paint job.

Thanks Eric Have a feeling it will be a long drawn out process. Have to swap everything from one ZJ to another, and longarm it. So how long Craig? .
Decided to start on a new skid. Good time to dial in the 1 and a quater die and use some left overs. Gonna keep the crossmember and skid seperate.

Realized i had to nip the bottoms if i wanna take it off.

My question, how much torque/twist is there when i'm gettin on it. Will 1.25" .09 wall with bends, well the one bend, and some gussets take it?

on the trans you wont have a problem most of the forces are soaked up by the motor mounts.

the only thing you need to worry about down there is the crashing down from the weight on jumps.

looks a little scetchy to me, I would have a continuous tube instead of trying to reuse the old mount.

    I wouldn't run it.

    Thanks Mud, good to know.

That's my heep Glen, try again

Shrek, i'm runnin it. . If i ran a continuous tube i'd loose clearance between crossmember and skid. I do plan on running a big gusset along the back of the tranny mount tying to both tubes. And a couple others at the ends. And maybe one on the bend by the front tcase output.

    Meh, should be plenty strong.

Why not a small plate in between the two tubes? Can throw in some gussets to reinforce it instead of using the stock mount?

I think thats what he has in mind Marco. I would run a continuous tube and cantalever the mount off the front side of the tube. I'm all about the overkill and i'm no engineer, but your design doesn't give me a warm and fuzzy feeling. IMO of course.

    Jeep looks great tho.

Yup, thats the idea Marco but it will be one big gusset that raps around the back of the mount as well.
Shrek, i'll tweak it up and hopefully it will give you a warmer fuzzier feeling.

    looks good bud.

SHREK, keep in mind this is only holding the tranny weight, there's going to be a separate skid mounted to the frame to take the weight of the jeep and such, so there wont be any added stress on the crossmember

as far as that sexy 8.8 goes, gunna try to get the 1/4" stuff cut this week bud, then I gotta find some 1/8" plate on the cheap for frame stiffeners. I think we can get that rear welded in in 2 weeks. we'll get 'er dun first and then start on the front

    Good stuff!

What are you using for a skid plate?
