    Differential leak

I have a 97 ranger 4x2 which seems to have differential fluid leaking very slowly. Seems like its coming from half way up the back plate. I cant tell how much fluid is still in it because i couldnt see the fill hole. Any idea where the hole is? and is it possible the back plate is rusting and the oil is leaking through the metal?

    Thanks

Check the the bottom of the differential. If its wet near the yolk then its the pinion seal and its leaking while your driving and just blowing back and onto the diff cover. If its not then just get some rtv and take the diff cover off and scrape off the old gasket and put a new bead around the cover. that should help a little
