My Cj7 4.0 Ho Engine Swap

I pulled out the old 304 v8 and Iím ready to drop in the 4.0 ho I got out of a í93 cherokee xj.

Some of the Iíve done to the 4.0 are:
    Yj alternator mount
Advance adapters Harmonic balancer cps kit
    Rugged ridge stainless header
    High pressure in-line fuel pump
    Advance adapters pilot bushing
    Yj breather box
And too many incidental bits to mention

The engine should be in, in the next week or so. Then Iíll have to take it over to jeepman to do the computer wiring harness for me. When thatís all done, Iíve got a pair of 3.54 diffs with a rear locrite locker ready to go in. wish me luckÖÖÖÖÖ.

well, pretty much all of the loose ends are tied in. the rads been repaired, flushed and installed with new hoses, water pump, thermostat, new valve cover and oil pan gaskets, replaced steering box stub shaft seal and the front bearing cap seal on the transmission (effectively disabling the self-undercoating system lol!). also relocated alternator with new serpentine belt.
now it's pretty much ready to tow-bar over to jeepman's to do the computer and engine wiring harness, which hopefully will be in the next few days.

i finished installing the 3.54 rear diff with lockrite locker today. while i was at it, i installed new brake shoes, wheel cylinders, axle bearings/seals and rear drive shaft universals. took it out for a spin around the block, and man what a difference compared with the old 2.72s that where in it. not only did i get to use 5th gear.....it actually accelerated when i gave her gas! this week i'll be putting the front diff in.

    done!

well, the front diff went in over the weekend with new spindle bearings and seals, new wheel bearings and seals, new axle universals and i also bought new u joints for the front drive shaft but the ones in it are in great shape, so i'll put that job off until another time. took it out today and put on about a hundred kms and everything seems quiet and tight other than a little bit of back lash in the rear diff. so, now i've completed all of the big jobs that i had planned for over the winter. the only jobs that i plan on doing are fixing things that i break, lol! i hope to get out on the trails this weekend and try it out.
