    Durango Fuel Mileage

Anybody have some real world fuel mileage readings for a 1998 Dodge Durango with the 5.2l in it?

I found what the manufacturer says it should get but am just wondering what people are getting in theres.

I have the 5.2L in my ZJ and I try not to think about the gas mileage too much. But I can tell you for a fact that motor like gas...A Lot! I get around 500k with an 80L tank, mix of city and highway. They are decent motors thou, I havent had any issues with mine yet and its got 275,xxx on it. still runs strong.
But in a Durango or ZJ, its still like pushing a brick through sand and will be a bit of a gas drinker

As many overlook.... these trucks are all wheel drive all the time..and they are heavy.Earlier noted 318 is good on fuel...360 ( 5.9 rt ) is the pig .

i have a 90 xj with a socket jammed in the front axle as the fork has broke. with 33 s on it. its also my family ride, so i take good care of it. sucks back gas good. now my gf uncle has a 98 durango wich i use once in a while to go out of town because it can hold more kids. i find full of kids or empty it sucks back the gas even more. i live in brantford and it cost me about 40$ in the jeep to go to missauga and 50 $in the durango. but they are a nice ride.

Ihave a 99 with 5.9l .the computer average inwarm weather is usually around 15.7 mpg,as soon as it gets cold out[5 deg. c and below] expect no better than 13.5 mpg. anyone that I talked to ,[even salesmen] says it doesn't matter whether 6 cyl. ,5.2 or 5.9l that they all get same mileage.around town expect about 9mpg,asolid hwy run I have had a 20mpg average[light footed about 50mph],55 and above, mileage drops dramatically.very solid vehicle,my insurance is cheap[agent says built like a tank].only problem I had is front and rear diff.[synthetic oil and additives. $$$$$] cheap plastic plugs they fall out and fill with water over time causing extreme heating and total failure. good luck .
