    I had a 5.9L AWD, 2001 fully loaded.

With a heavy foot I was getting 9.8-11.5mpg city, 12-14mpg highway.

If you drive more fuel economically, you can achieve 15-17mpg hwy and somewhere around 11-14 city.

dakota-durango.com for lots more information. Trust me, LOTS of information

the 5.9 is NOT -only- in an R/T

    My SLT was 5.9 AWD.

The 318 isn't exactly the best on fuel btw. Better than the 5.9 but barely by any.

as for being full time 4x4... that's not exactly true. That option only came in after 2001 as far as I can remember. Before that it wasn't an electronic tcase.

I also thought the 98's only came with the 5.9 and the 4.7?

holy old thread, didn't see it until just now. BUT

That's not entirely true either. My 5.9L has a BUNCH of get-up-and-go.
