    The Push for Roadkill 09

Well I'm not sure who remembers what happened last year, but I was well on my way to having my YJ finished for Roadkill 08. Here is the post for reference:
    http://www.jeepkings.ca/forums/showt...hlight=bellows

The untold story of that jeep is that while I was finishing up the welding of my roll cage (the morning of the day we were going to leave) an errant spark lit the bedliner floor on fire and almost burnt the thing to the ground. Needless to say it got parted out and I played around with ZJ's for a little while.

When the ZJ finally crapped out I thought I was going to leave jeeps alone for a little while...until this came along.

    Dodge 360 V8
    727
    np203 or 208 (still investigating)
    SOA
    d44 front (3.55)
    unknown rear (3.55)
    35's
    3" body lift
    3" rear blocks

missing steering, brakelines, and just about every minor detail hookup (efan wiring, gas lines, rear shackles, broken steering column/push button start, windshield, etc) to finish. The saving grace of this jeep is that the tub and frame are all original metal and in mint condition...i may eat tomorrow's dinner off the frame

I'm not going to post my plans, just step by step as I go, starting at the rear bumper and working my way to the front.

The goal is to be ready for Roadkill 2009, really busy with work, so here's to hoping!

Without further wait, here's some pics as it sat when I picked it up:

That's what I was thinking, they were a stock axle in the ramcharger...

EDIT, now that i read about it, i think i'll keep it for awhile, seems like it's somewhere around a 9" for strength and the main complaints stem from it being hard to get the gears set up.

We'll just have to see how she goes!

Well I have been asked for a few updates so here we go.

Stripped the seats from it to prepare for installing the corbeaus (sorry no pics).

Then addressed the rear suspension. The jeep had no rear shackles, and 3" lift blocks. I removed the stock yj springs and the lift blocks...

After that I put in my F-150 springs. Thank goodness this thing had a rear bumper on it, those things are long. Going to build a shackle hanger off the back of the bumper and then it will be finished.

Next steps are to get the gas tank in and locate the rear axle in it's final position, then replace the np208 or 205 that's in it with my dana 300...

always interested in your build threads, was a little let down when you sold your last project - was great to follow.

glad to see you've started on something new, will no doubt give me ideas on stuff i'll probably never have time/patience for.

Great to see someone finishing that project loose. See. I. Didn't lye eh. Told ya that frame and tub was mint. It was freaky clean when Pete picked it up lol. Me watchy build. And FYI. That rearend that came outa the ramcharger that sits in it wasn't the original rearend.the original rearend went bye bye long time ago lol. And I believe it was a ford I know it don't make any sence but when did dodge ever do anything that makes sence lol So I don't know what it is. I just assumed it was a D44 outback now. But I never looked lol.
Anyways looking forward to the build. When is the roadkill bbq and can I come lol.

HUGE THANKS goes out to Lugnutz for his help today....he is a wiring guru for sure.

You wouldn't believe the nest of wires eliminated from the harnesses today. I wish I had a before picture but the after pictures will be posted as soon as we finish up!

Also got the rear leaf spring mounts on the bumper and the jeep is finally sitting squarely on its own suspension.

Gas tank and rear brakes etc. is up next.

I should also mention that today we:

got the gas tank in and fuel lines plumbed
got the old tcase out (just final prepping my 300 to go in)
got the front d44 stripped down to the bare bones
got the steering box swapped to the one i tapped for hydro assist
got alot more headway on the electrical

HUGE thanks goes out to (in order of appearance): lowrider, 4banger, tank, and lugnutz for coming by for a hand (and to drink a beer or two). Couldn't have gotten a third of what we got done today without you guys!
