    91 runner getting sas'ed

So last summer I ran my 33’s and did nothing but break front axles and it really took the fun out of playing with my truck. This year I am going with an 85 solid axle running a high pinion land cruiser third and factory e-locker. Should be much better!

Got the plasma going and voila….pile of useless parts!

Gotta get the rest of the mounts out of the way

    Nice clean frame!

Raise the drive line up 2 ½ inches to flatten out my belly.

Clean out the old crossmember to make way for the new one. 2x4x1/4 made from three pieces for easy trans service. Lower links for radius arm will start at the crossmember and run to the front diff. Gonna use coilovers to hold it all up.

Truck looks mean without the ifs junk!

    Started getting the axle ready.

Made all the gussets need to weld it all up.

Parts just waiting to go together!

    Axle upgrade….. Big Time!

    More to come!

Careful welding the front axle truss on, you will warp it if you get it too hot! The thin Toyota housings are known to warping easily. The first tell tale sign will be hard to slide in Longfeilds.

One inch at a time on opposing ends of the axle.

I'd ask you to step away from the welder, but it might do the world some good if you clamp the ground electrode to your big toe, put the MIG handle to your temple and pull the trigger.

Sorry for those who have been waiting, I have been in the mock up and decision stage.

Looks as if I am going with a three link , with a panhard bar. Should work very nice. I have found that my frame is gonna be to close to my locker when I start to flex so I decided I am going to c-notch the frame. It is going to make the frame stronger at the front and give me the clearance I need. My hope is to keep the truck at a nice ride height and have lots of flex. My coils at this time will restrict me to 2.5 inches of up travel and 5.5 down.

Looks that my caster angle is gonna be just slightly positive which should be just fine.

so the front shaft doesnt have much flex .

For the work required and the cost involved, it was well worth it.

What are the details on the front driveshaft? I have an IFS front shaft in the back of my CJ and it has lots of angle in it.

I've seen the tech write up on the web but it wasn't needed for my shaft.

I have 14" of verticle travel and it doesn't bind at all.
