Question Does your JK leak like a sieve?

I know I'm not alone on this one. Just wondering how many JK owners out there have leaky hardtops... for that matter are there any that don't? Have you learned to live with it, or has it been in the shop 3 times now to get "fixed"?

Great thought those 3 pc tops, must be some monkey in the eng. dept. though because I have heard that a lot of them leak.

On the other hand, it's good motivation to get the soft top on....get with it man, you are missing great day even today.

once i figured out how the top should be
put on properly.. never an issue again

there is a trick to dropping the freedom top

also give a 1/4 turn with your hex key on the clips.

the wife's leaks around the back window and tail gate area
took it in to have it fixed under warranty... they replaced some of the seals and they had to order some others... we're still waiting for them to come in

With you on the hood thing. Was driving on 401 the other day, very windy and the hood was bouncing so bad it was hitting the hook... thought it was coming up to the windshield for sure

The fact that these are 30K+ vehicles makes that unacceptable!

By your logic anyone that owns a convertible should expect it to rain on the inside.

It is clearly an engineering defect... that QC needs to fix and get straightened out.

In light of how Chrysler appears in the market this is one of the many reasons they are in the predicament they are in.

Sorry to get off topic Brock.

Ours leaked so bad around the back window that there was mold growing in the cubby and the bracket for the speaker was rusted to shit!

Retarded coments like this are the reason why Chrysler gets away with piss poor quality.

If you like inferior build quality, the worst customer service in any industry and total lack of care buy Chrysler!

Chrysler sucks because they have shotty build quality, blind monkeys doing QA and engineers that think an abacus is hi tech.

The jeep thing isn't for everyone. Should have bought a cherokee or grand cherokee or liberty (gen 2) More what appeals to women, famillies, and main stream folk.[/QUOTE]

    Unacceptable!

Chris owns a CJ as you know and his CJ with the poor fitting soft doors and a bikini top leaked less in the rain than my JK

and yes I am a woman, and yes I bought a JK and yes I loved it!
But quite frankly the amount that it leaked was unacceptable for any vehicle.

Just because it's a Jeep thing doesn't make it right in this day and age with the amount that these engineers and Chrysler workers are making in a year!

If the quality continues to be this poor then their wages should reflect that.

Clearly it was a MAJOR issue in the 07's and early 08's and it seems to be getting better with the later 08's and 09's but at no point is it ever ok for a Brand NEW Under Warranty vehicle to leak like a tap!

    Should have bought a YJ.
A minute passed then another. Then another minute. Then - another minute passed. Then another minute passed and another. A further minute passed quickly followed by another minute when suddenly -a different minute passed followed by another different minute and another and yet another further different minute, passed.

The sun is shining, the weather is getting warmer, soon we can all get back to wheelin and away from bitching.... not that I don't appreciate the entertainment. And I agree the sooner we can get back to no top the better!

Also agree with both your comments Leanne and Chris

The leaky hard tops and hoods are pretty much all with the '07's from what I hear. You always get problems like this on the first model year of a vehicle, be it Chrysler, GM, Toyota or Honda. Look at the problems Toyota has had with the FJ!! That's why I waited to get the '09, let 'um get all the bugs worked out. Dry top and no movement on the hood so far. I heard they changed the rubber snaps to hold the hood down on the '09's. If you're having trouble with your hood bouncing around, go to the dealership and check for recalls, I know some '08's and '07's had a recall for the hood issue. If not, I think the replacement parts are about $10 for the pair and problem solved.
