    GMC Safari/CHEV Astro

    i have an 87 safari...
how long did that model run for? 85-93?
did they all have the same motor? did they switch to the vortec at some point? or just with the new model styling in 94? 95?

how about the all wheel drive models? was there different tranny's in the AWD vs the 2WD?

i found a mint donor van for cheap but its a 93 Astro AWD, basically i am looking to take the pass rocker, motor, tranny (if it will fit) and maybe the dash...

would it be a colossal PITA to swap the dashes? i think the 93 is digital... mine is not

    thanks

The trans in the AWD is a 4wd transmission. (yeah it's different)

Is your 4.3 TBI? the '93 could be popet injected.

    yeah mine is TBI
    thanks CC

did i have my years correct? 85-93?

and another dumb question... mine is short box... and the donor is conventional size... if the wheel bas the same and just the box got bigger or is a longer wheel base as well?

and is it a major PITA to swap the motors? will the donor motor bolt up to my tranny?

be a shame to cut up an AWD safari, is it worth saving?

My buddy has a '93 Astro that I'm sure he could be talked out of pretty cheap, if you're looking for an rwd donor. Pretty sure the rockers are gone though.
'98 Grand Cherokee 5.9 Limited, bone stock for now.
'93 Grand Voyager wheelchair van, chick magnet.
'90 Trans Am GTA, 5.0L/700R4, creaks and groans like a GM sportscar.
'98 Oldsmobile LSS, 3.8L. The closest thing to decent mileage.
