Thumbs down A parts supplier to avoid at all costs!!!

Just a warning to everyone: Avoid Rusty's Off Road. The measurements are too imprecise, therefore, nothing fits correctly.... You will have nothing but issues.
Now that I've spent over $14,000 trying to get my truck back to normal since installing a 3" Rusty's lift 4 months ago, I've come to the conclusion that I have to buy a whole new lift from someone who actually knows what they're doing..... When I asked Rusty's to rectify the situation, they also became VERY ignorant toward me. Saying there's no way they were wrong. Nice customer service.
In short, avoid them like the plague if you like your Jeep....
The parts I have had installed have caused my Jeep's destruction.
If you want more details on what happened & my complete horror story, send me a pm.... I'll be glad to tell you all about it.

^Funny you mention that our service manager called there yesterday and the tech guy didn't know how to install their track bar.

this proves that before you make a major purchase you should:
    - research the manufacturer ( lots of stuff on this site and NAXJA aboot "Crustys" )
    - not necessarily buy the cheapist stuff you can find

i only dealt with them for a few items. the airtube still works good and fit right (although this is not a part where high tolerance is involved). i thought that the shipping/handling charges were high and never had any contact with the service department

i always try to find a canadian supplier - to keep profits in this country and to have a local contact when things don't work right

    PS

Why can't we get the first hand account of the story publicly? Why restrict it to PM's? What is there to hide? Back up and support your claims. Post up your story to share with others so something can be learned from this.

Well I have no complaints with those guys at all. My buddy has been to their operation personally and has never had a problem with them. I have the " rusty's kit, otk, axle brace and no problems at all. Nothing has been difficult to install or not quite fit properly. I am so far completely satisifed with their products and service.

The rusty's hardware under my rig has been just fine....
I've had more issues with the POS re1600 Rubicon Express track bar I bought

    Spill the beans,

Not to be an overly huge dick, but if you don't know how to maintain or fix your jeep, much less install a simple lift kit... I would question yourself before you jump into the "jeep thing" otherwise it's going to get a lot more expensive

I have Rusty's front components under my Comanche and I have no issues with it other than they are sooooooo far away so shipping hurts...

they are also one of the only guys who make Comanche specific parts (like SUA leafs for 4"+ lift that only cost 250$ a pair..... thats ~10" SOA pure suspension!)

Id love to hear your experience tho... but only will take your 0.02 IF you publicly post it.

yeah $14g's blows my mind. For 14 grand that thing better have a sweet underbelly, full-size axles, and a beefy long-arm kit to rectify the original problem.

a burning question I have for this claim....

given Rusty's is only in the USA and therefore one must order the components of choice, get them shipped cross border, and have another shop up here install it for them (or install themselves).... who says it is the supplier that is to blame *note this goes for any other consumer complaint for any installed product*

Would the installer not notice the inaccuracies in measurements and NOT force the components to fit?

Seriously... thats like someone buying a piece of furniture (lets say a kids bunk bed) from Ikea, assembling it NOT according to instructions and forcing parts together against the design and then when it collapses due to poor assembly and injures their offsping, they go pointing fingers and and try collecting off the supplier...ignorant of their own stupidity... it happens everyday, this is what our society has come to.... the ability to assume own risk and responsibility has been tossed out the window....

I mean not to direct this to the OP... but it happens all too often these days, quick to blame, slow to admit...

i still cant figure out what in this list of parts from the only 3" lift for that year of zj could have been
too imprecise, therefore, nothing fits correctly
here the part list stright from Rusty's web site:

    KIT INCLUDES
    • Front 3" Coil Springs
    • Rear 3" Coil Springs
    • HD Rear Trac Bar Bracket
    • Front Sway Bar Drop Kit
    • Front Hydro Performance Shocks
    • Rear Hydro Performance Shocks

Again if the OP would simply elaborate and tell us the story we would all eat our words........maybe

(edit) just notied he hasn't been on line since this morning. i guess not everyone lives on their computer

Could be that we should be avoiding the shop that charged 14 large to fix a 3" lift?
