I picked up my 8.8 today from a 99 Explorer....

It has a huge lip on it... anyone ever shave one? Please share pictures etc.

PS... I dunno if this should be on hrdcore or not... If not please move it for me.
My latest project... Collection of Parts

Other stuff... Building a doubler, D300 Flip kit

I like it Jimmy. Start by shaving that rust off. . I got a purdy 8.8 all rebuilt with 4.56 in my garage that looks like it came from the showroom i might be calling squaters rights on and putting in my stang. Clocks ticking Craig. LOL. I'm also thinking about shaving my 9" this winter too. Might take an inch off my rear axle while i'm at it.

So thats what they mena when they say "it looks like it came from the bottom of an ocean"

Get a mask on before you start into that one, unless your iron intake is really low to start

Another thing I saw done was instead of shaving that lip, was to build a ramp to it. Doesn't help with ground clearance but would help keep from the lip grabbing.

Thought about that Rev... But its out now. so I'm thinking this would be the best time. and why not... I'm hoping It will bet me better clearance than the D35 thats in there now.

And I will be wearing some type of dust mask... Don't wanna be breathing any of that crap.

Bwahahaha... Aren't you a funny FN guy....

Never met anyone that would want a little more clearance.

I'm gonna start preping it today. do some grinding and cleaning and then some more grinding and cleaning....

I've read people using a recipricating saw to cut these... I think I'm gonna use a zip cut. do you think there will be an issue with that?
