    Project "What Cherokee?"

So seeing as my build has completely changed directions from when I started my last build thread I fiquire I would make a new one, as for the name: Basically it's going to be only a Cherokee shell. Even most of the "Frame" is going to be plated or rebuilt.

Here goes the plans and what is aready done and not changing:
350ci SB mildly built on propane
    TH400 NP203/D300 Doubler
    Floor lift and belly tuck
    D60 Front 14bolt Rear
    Cage and Custom Dash
    Hydroboost brakes.

I'm sure more will get added as the winter goes on and my mind has a chance to wander a little more!
I hope to have it done by May 24 2010 might be hard, but better to stay optomistic!

    The day I parked it:

Some shots of what i've got started.
    The Striping:

    The Motor:

    The Front Axle:

    Welding the 14 Bolt:
    90 YJ. 4link F/R, 16" SAW Airshocks, 32bolt Beadlocks, D60/14bolt, Full Hydro/Hydroboost L67 3.8SC 700r4 NP231/D300
02 Yukon XL on 37's DD
91 Cherokee Juggy scrapped for Greener Grass
I prefer to build it and not buy it, you see it, I probably made it.

Preheated using the oven to 450deg (dont tell the wife!!!), then used stainless filler. Now I need to fill it in with the mig. If you look on Pirate for the "Orb of Traction" you'll get the idea!!

Isn't all that wire more expensive than a spool?

Not even close. Spool=resetting up the gears=new bearings=more cost.

1 12lb spool of wire is only 60.00 and I will use WAY less then that and I used 4 TIG rods already.

My bearings are in real good condition. So even though the rear is getting new gears, I can keep the bearings and only grab a 39.00 minor install kit. I know I could keep the bearings if I don't damage them while removing.

And for the price of a Richmod spool I could almost get a detroit locker.

    Moving onward...

Did some cutting and planning tonight.

This will probably be the final position of the motor. I'll need to slightly clearance the firewall for the Dizzy. This position places the motor 2-3" higher the Advanced Adaptors Mounts, keeps the trans pan 2" higher the the lowest part on the frame, and my tight headers clear with 1.5" per side. I might need to cowl the hood a bit, but that does worry me one bit.

Me too... I always wanted to drop a SBC into an XJ, and this is as close as I'll ever get.

If I was a Jeep, they'd have parted me out a LONG time ago.

Dropping in a SBC is alot easier then this.

Novak or AA make mounts, but this method is keeping the bottom of the trans pan 1 3/4" higher then the lowest part of the frame and the front of the motor block more then 10" away from the rad core.

BTW Staang: whens the 5.0l going in? I had lines on one but gave it up because I had this SB already and Chevy parts are like 1cent candies at MACs.
